What is Frozen Custard?

Frozen Custard is a gourmet ice cream treat that originated at Coney Island, New York as a carnival treat at the turn of the century. It was extremely popular and quickly moved to the mid-west and Milwaukee is known as the Custard Capital of the World.

The great taste of Frozen Custard is based on similar ingredients as ice cream; however, it includes at least 10% butterfat and 1.4% egg yoke. We make our Frozen Custard fresh daily severed at 18 degrees, while traditional ice cream is created at 22 degrees.

Many people often compliment the texture of Frozen Custard. This is because Frozen Custard only expands by 20% in the freezing process, while ice cream doubles in size. This means Frozen Custard has smaller ice crystals leaving a smoother and creamier texture. Ice cream has more ice crystals, which generate a course texture.
